Your privacy matters here. This policy explains, in plain language, what information Studying Machine collects, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Studying Machine (studyingmachine.com) is an educational project run by Carlos Miguel, based in Brazil. If you have any question about this policy or your data, write to carlos@studyingmachine.com.
What we collect
- Information you give us. When you sign up for a free guide or our email list, we collect your first name and email address. If you contact us, we keep your message and email so we can reply. If you buy a product, the payment platform collects what it needs to process the purchase.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our site and email tools may record technical data such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and whether you opened or clicked an email. Some of this is collected through cookies.
We do not collect sensitive data, and we never ask for your passwords or payment card details directly.
How we use it
- To send you what you asked for, such as the Learn Like a Machine guide
- To send you emails with learning tips, new content, and occasional offers for our own products
- To reply to your messages
- To understand what content is useful and improve the site and our emails
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
Legal bases
Under Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD) and, where it applies, the European Union’s GDPR, we process your data based on your consent (when you sign up) and our legitimate interest in running and improving Studying Machine. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Who we share it with
We never sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run Studying Machine, such as:
- Builderall / MailingBoss, which hosts our landing pages and sends our emails
- Our website hosting provider
- Payment platforms, when you buy a product
These providers may store data on servers outside Brazil, including in the United States. We only work with providers that protect your data under their own privacy and security commitments. We may also disclose information if required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep your name and email while you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we stop sending emails, and you can ask us to delete your data completely. Messages and purchase records are kept only as long as needed for support, legal, or accounting reasons.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- Confirm whether we hold your data and get a copy of it
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Delete your data
- Withdraw your consent or object to how we use your data
- Receive your data in a portable format
Just email carlos@studyingmachine.com. We will reply as soon as possible, normally within 15 days. You also have the right to file a complaint with Brazil’s data protection authority (ANPD) or, if you live in the EU, with your local supervisory authority.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use them to keep the site working, understand how visitors use it, and measure email performance. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work as intended.
Children
Studying Machine is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage online is 100% secure, but we only use reputable providers and limit access to your data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced to subscribers by email.
